Big news, shoppers. Amazon Prime has announced that it will be expanding its same-day and overnight delivery options to Alberta’s largest cities, just in time for Prime Day on July 8.
Need an outfit on short notice, cleaning supplies, or a birthday gift? Now you can receive your order in as fast as 7 hours.
While same-day delivery has been available to customers across Wild Rose Country previously, Prime members can now receive their orders even faster on millions of items from top brands in over 35 categories.
This means the wait time is almost non-existent, which is great news for those who are impatient or in a rush.
“After successfully launching faster Same-Day and Overnight Delivery in the Greater Toronto Area, Southwestern Ontario, and Metro Vancouver last summer, Amazon has expanded these services to Prime members in Calgary, Edmonton, and select surrounding communities,” they wrote in a recent press release.
“This expansion not only enhances the Prime member experience with faster delivery, but builds on Amazon’s investments in Alberta, driving both customer satisfaction and economic growth across the province.”
According to the company, Prime members who place an order as late as 8:30 p.m. can now expect a package at their doorstep by 4 a.m., for free on orders over $11.99.
All you’ve got to do is look for items clearly labelled “Prime same-day” or Prime overnight” or use the “get it today” filter in search results.
“These enhanced delivery speeds are made possible through Amazon’s strategic investments across Canada, including 12 fulfillment facilities in Alberta that are part of a regional network supporting over 7,000 employees throughout the prairie region,” they explain.
“By placing products closer to customers, Amazon has reduced travel distances and handoffs while maintaining consistent processes for employees.”
If, however, you’re not a Prime consumer but need something on the fly, non-members can also enjoy free delivery on orders over $25 or for just $6.99 on those under $25.
These are fast times, Alberta.
Enjoy and happy Prime Day to all who celebrate. It’s going to be a wild four days.
When: Tuesday to Friday, July 8 to 11, 2025
