The provincial government is offering people $5,000 to move to Alberta & here’s what to know

Do you know someone looking for a change in scenery? They could score $5,000 for choosing Wild Rose Country.

Meant to attract skilled workers from coast to coast, the Alberta Is Calling campaign launched in 2022,  was renewed in the spring, and included in the 2024 provincial budget.

From the province’s affordability and employment opportunities to its culture, heritage, diversity, and community spirit, the province advertised a number of reasons that newcomers should relocate to the cities and towns within the area.

In addition, they’ve recently introduced the Alberta is Calling Attraction Bonus – a  $5,000 refundable tax incentive, that they hope will attract workers in the skilled trades.

“The Alberta is Calling attraction bonus will support our government’s commitment to build a skilled and resilient labour force that helps businesses and the economy thrive,” explained Matt Jones, Minister of Jobs, Economy and Trade.

“We will continue to foster the conditions for growth to ensure Alberta remains the best place to live, work, invest, do business and raise a family.”

As of right now, a list of eligibility requirements has yet to be confirmed on the Alberta is Calling website, but it will reportedly include working full-time in a specified occupation, filing 2024 taxes in Alberta and living in the province for at least 12 months.

Of course, we’re sure it won’t be long until we get more information, so hang tight.

We have our eyes on this one and will update you as soon as additional information is released.

Until then, tell your friends. There’s never been a better time to switch things up.
