A fur-ever friend: Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society’s Wags 2 Wishes adoptable dogs

They’re called “man’s best friend” for a reason. There’s no companion as loyal and loving as a dog, and if you’ve been considering adding a furry friend to your family, look no further than AARCS.

AARCS (Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society) is a grassroots animal welfare organization that helps dogs, cats, and critters through compassionate care, spay and neutering services, disaster response, and of course, adoption programming. They rescue and adopt approximately 3500 animals each year and don’t euthanize them for space, which means continued adoption is a key lifeline for vulnerable creatures.

“It’s no secret that animal shelters across the country are in crisis,” reads the AARCS website, citing a 2023 data analysis. “Nationally, shelters are in their third year of having too many animals and not enough adoptions — especially for dogs.”

While the adoptable dogs page is updated as animals are nursed back to health or adopted out, some pups have been AARCS residents for longer than others. The Wags 2 Wishes program helps these good boys and girls find their forever homes with the help of a special $100 adoption fee.

Here are the eight Wags 2 Wishes dogs available for adoption.
