Here’s a first look inside the stunning Ace Hotel now open in Toronto (PHOTOS)

Exciting news, Toronto. Another famous hotel chain has opened its first-ever Canadian location here in our city. Ace Hotel Toronto has officially arrived in the Garment District, just a few days after the grand opening of W Toronto in Yorkville.

The 123-room hotel was built from the ground up and designed by the revered Toronto-based firm Shim-Sutcliffe Architects. The red brick building was designed to evoke a feeling of “timelessness,” according to a press release from the hotel.

The impressive and spacious lobby is “rich with texture and warmth, offering space for life to take place,” it says. A menu of small shareable plates and drinks will be available in the lobby.

The interior design by Atelier Ace pays tribute to the “city’s legacy of manufacturing and textiles as well as Ontario’s landscape of dense forests and looping riverways,” many original works by primarily Canadian artists throughout the space.

You won’t be staying in a typical guest room at Ace Hotel Toronto, either. The suites are described as “urban cabins,” outfitted with  Douglas fir panelling, copper accents, deep-set window benches, and an in-room vinyl collection.

The hotel’s ground-floor wood-fired restaurant, Alder, opens in early August. The sophisticated yet warm dining destination serves seasonal fare by award-winning Chef Patrick Kriss, head of the acclaimed Alo Food Group.

Some of the menu highlights include Half Grilled Chicken with harissa jus; Grilled Red Pepper Carpaccio with garlic, olive, anchovy, and paprika; and gluten-free Coconut Cream Pie and Dark Chocolate and Peanut Mille-Feuille for dessert. Not to mention an exciting variety of classically-inspired cocktails.

Last but certainly not least is the hotel’s late-night rooftop bar and lounge, Evangeline, opening later this year. The 80-seat lounge is located on the 14th floor, with an open-air patio, weekend DJs, and a menu featuring snackable plates and drinks.
