A gorgeous new piece of public art with a new patio space has popped up in Vancouver

Heads up folks, because a gorgeous new piece of public art has landed in Vancouver. If you’re looking for a great photo op, or just a nice place to relax this weekend, then definitely keep the new ‘Parasol’ installation in mind. Curious about why it’s here? We’ve got the scoop!

Parasol comes from the folks at Tangible, a Vancouver-based art and design studio. The new piece is intended to help with the revitalization of the Bentall Centre downtown, and has been installed alongside a new patio space outside the building.

The nine-foot stall structures actually provide shade during the day, making it a nice spot to stop for a bite to eat or a coffee break. But, it’s at night that the structures truly come alive. Featuring fins on the underside, the mushroom-like parasols will feature LED light shows and cycle through a variety of patterns.

It’s got an Alice in Wonderland vibe to it, and we’re down. One things for sure- this is going to be a crazy thing to bump into after a night out on the town, whenever that happens. But, if you’re looking to beat the Instagram rush, then we suggest you head down there sooner rather than later!
