Listen, we get it. If we found out that someone in our community had a raptor statue in their backyard, we’d be envious as well. But, that doesn’t mean you can just up and steal it from the person who owns it! Which is exactly what happened in Burnaby recently. Sheesh.
The Burnaby RCMP released a (pun-filled) tweet today notifying the public that the 80-pound ‘ornament’ had recently gone missing. Apparently, the raptor was part of the Alberta pavilion for Expo ’86, and after changing hands a few times, ended up in this person’s backyard. Talk about an upgrade on the classic garden gnome.

What we don’t get is why stealing the unique statue would be the first option. After all, you could simply ask to purchase it, or browse around on Craigslist for a similarly weird item. Like this German Shepherd statue we just found on there.
Anyway, if you see a raptor kicking around where it shouldn’t be, make sure to notify the Burnaby RCMP about it. As for the owner- we hope that you can get it back!
