7 photo worthy towns in Ontario that you need to check out this year

The lockdown has lifted and the extreme weather is behind us. Now seems like a great time to create new memories and up our ‘gram game. In the spirit of supporting local, we uncovered some of the best places to (re)discover in Ontario. Lucky for us, we live in a province that has an abundance of photo-worthy spots for every vibe. Snow-dusted streetscapes, cloudy skylines, white beach fronts, snow-blanketed wilderness, we’ve got it all.

Before you hit these picturesque towns, you obviously want to make sure you have the right gear to capture the wonderful moments perfectly. And so we suggest a trip to Henry’s. As you’d well be aware, Henry’s is THE store for photographers of all interests and calibers.

They have one of the largest selection of cameras, lenses, tripods and other photo gear. Whether you’re looking to upgrade your current equipment, find some cool new additions to your camera bag or want quality prints, they’ve got you covered all the way.

Now, to the aforementioned Ontario gems…

#1 Downtown TO

TBH, TO has a whole is a great place for photogs to be in. But its culturally vibrant downtown is a photo paradise with something wonderful to capture around every corner. Whatever your muse maybe, this is where you’ll find it. Modernistic streetscapes? The Bay Street stretch. Cheerful, artsy vibe? The mural-clad, colourful Kensington Market. Gorg skyline views? Rooftop of Kensington Garage. Urban wilderness? The beautiful Leslie Street Spit.

#2 Gravenhurst

Yes, Gravenhurst in winter! If you’ve been to this Muskoka town in summer or fall, you already know that every inch of this place is snap-able. The thick snowy forest, the ski slopes at Hidden Valley Highlands, the frozen Muskoka Wharf and the historic downtown will give you several gram-worthy clicks.

#3 Goderich

Given that town is most popular for the many beaches in and around, it’s commonly thought of as a summer-fall destination. But the winter views here are extraordinary. The otherwise crowded beaches, for example, turn into serene, snowy fields dotted with frozen rocks. And the insane views of Lake Huron from the Menesetung Bridge are unmissable. You’ll also find the most amazing sunset frames from the bluffs near the Goderich Lighthouse.

#4 Perth

The town is aptly tagged as the most charming town in Ontario. From the historic buildings to the old-world charm to the beautiful landscapes, there is a lot that’ll brighten up your portfolio/ social feed. The Stewart Park alone will give you several aww-worthy scenes worth snapping. The Code’s Mill with its ancient exterior and a mill-turned-boutique-mall interior is another one of our favourite spots here.

#5 Prince Edward County

The County is yet another underrated winter dest. Of course, the place is a summer paradise but the place is straight-up magical in winter. The snow-covered trails, the dunes at Sandbanks Provincial Park, the winter views of Lake Ontario give plenty of picture-perfect views. Even our beloved vineyards transform into fairytale-like photo ops.

#6 Stratford

It might be a small town but it certainly is a mighty one when it comes to giving our cams some serious hard work. The town has everything from street murals at Allen’s Alley to architecture at York Street to a slew of snowy trails including those along the Avon River.

#7 Blue Mountain

There’s a reason why it’s one of the most popular winter destinations. In addition to all the fun activities, the place has incredibly scenic winter views. But it isn’t just the mountains, the forests and the lake that give your dramatic clicks, the vibrant village too, turns into a Disney-worthy winter town.

Ready for your photo adventure? Well, check out Henry’s store (in person or online) before you hit the road. After all, you can’t have the perfect picture without the right tool.
