These Canadian celebs stole the spotlight at last night’s Met Gala (PHOTOS)

It’s the day after the 2022 Met Gala and the red carpet reviews are pouring in. While there was no shortage of jaw-dropping looks at this year’s gala, a few Canadians stood out for their takes on this year’s theme — Gilded Glamour. Here are some of the most memorable looks from the most fashionable event of the year.

Shawn Mendes

Ontario’s own Shawn Mendes looked dapper as ever in an upcycled Tommy Hilfiger suit, complete with a dramatic open collar and blue nail polish. He told Emma Chamberlain during a red carpet interview that he was proud to wear the look and despite attending the Met Gala several years in a row, it always feels “different every year,” and “absurd in the best way.”

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

Canada’s honourary king and queen, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, co-chaired this year’s Met Gala and they were a show-stopping pair on the carpet. Reynolds was understated but refined in a dark velvet tuxedo, while his wife dazzled in an Atelier Versace reversible gown, which went from coral pink to aqua blue. The dress paid homage to New York City, with reference to the city’s architecture and landmarks.

Maye and Elon Musk

Billionaire and newly-minted Twitter boss Elon Musk brought his Saskatchewan-born mom Maye Musk to this year’s Met Gala. Maye was a model for 50 years and looked stunning at 74 years old in a burgundy velvet dress with statement pearls around her neck.

Winnie Harlow

Mississauga-born supermodel Winnie Harlow was giving ballerina from the future vibes in a gorgeous Iris van Herpen gown, complete with a unique crown and matching black pattern at the center of her dress. An absolute vision!
