10 of the best things to do in Edmonton this week (April 25-29)

After a couple weeks of fake outs, it looks like Edmonton is finally starting to get some real spring weather this week. The sun will shine, mornings will be brisk, and afternoons will be warm! In short, more than a few reasons to go make the most of the next few days.

Here are the 10 best things to do in Edmonton this week.

THE GRINDSTONE THEATRE

A major show returns to the Grindstone Theatre this week! Hot Boy Summer, which premiered last year in Edmonton, is returning as part of a province-wide tour starting on Wednesday!

When: Shows start Wednesday, April 27th
Where: 10019 81 Avenue
Cost: Varies

ROYAL BLOOD

How about a little live music instead? This English rock band has kicked off its North American tour, and Edmonton is one of the stops! Great if you need a dose of energy moving into the weekend.

When: Wednesday, April 27th
Where: 6107 104 Street NW
Cost: $45 for GA

DISCOVER A NEW BAR

And when we say discover we mean it. We recently rounded up all the best hidden bars and speakeasies around the city, which offer the perfect spot to grab an after-dinner nightcap, or even just some drinks with friends.

EDMONTON OILERS

Lucky for us, the final two regular season games for the Oilers are both at home! They face off against the Sharks and the Canucks in back-to-back games to wrap up the work week.

When: Thursday, April 28th and Friday, April 29th
Where: 10220 104 Avenue NW

FC EDMONTON

As one regular season winds down, another is just beginning! If you’re looking for a different sports night out, then we think watching an FC Edmonton match is the perfect option. Especially since tickets are so reasonable!

When: Wednesday, April 27th
Where: 11000 Stadium Road NW
Cost: $10.50+ for GA

HIT THE LINKS

Sorry but we just had to include this for selfish reasons. While we wait for golf courses to officially open, know that the Victoria Park Driving Range is good to go! Head over after work to work on the swing a little before things really heat up.

When: Now open
Where: 12130 River Valley Road NW
Cost: $6+

FILIPINO RESTAURANT MONTH

Brand new for 2022, this new nationwide food event has got some Edmonton names joining in! Go enjoy a delicious meal, enter the raffle, and maybe even win a trip to The Philippines themselves! Heck, we’re fine with just the meal part.

When: On throughout April
Where: Locations around Edmonton

ART GALLERY OF ALBERTA

Guess what happens this Thursday at the Art Gallery! That’s right- we’ve got admission by donation night to look forward to. Go make the most of it with a pal, on a date, or even by yourself. You really can’t lose here.

When: Open Wednesday to Sunday
Where: 2 Sir Winston Churchill Square
Cost: $14, free admission on Thursday, April 28th

EDMONTON VALLEY ZOO

Meanwhile, the Edmonton Valley Zoo still has spring pricing available until the end of the month! If you’re looking for a cheap and fun outing this weekend, and don’t mind some chillier conditions, this is a great option.

When: Open throughout the weekend
Where: 13315 Buena Vista Road
Cost: $10.95 for GA

METRO CINEMA

As much as we love a state-of-the-art theatre, we might like this local option even more! Metro Cinema has always got a great selection of movies to check out, from cult comedies to art-house to things even we’ve never heard of!

When: Showtimes throughout the week
Where: 8712 109 Street
Cost: $13 for GA

Those are our picks for this week, Edmonton!
