What is National Public Lands Day? It’s a celebration of the connection between people and nature that was established in 1994. Today it’s held on the fourth Saturday in September and encourages Americans to take advantage of our nation’s open spaces for education, recreation, and health benefits.

What’s the best way to celebrate this day of nature? Well, there are several options. The first and most popular is by visiting a national park for free. Some of our stunning local national parks include Olympic National Park and Mount Rainier National Park to name a few.

Now it doesn’t look like any are happening on National Public Lands Day in Washington this year but you can always check back in to find a future volunteer date by clicking here.
