You can rent the stunning BC ski chalet that inspired Hot Tub Time Machine

While we usually focus on relatively inexpensive rental options, this week we decided to go for a more, uh, aspirational pick. The Timbers Lodge, a massive ski-in/ski-out chalet at Fernie Alpine Resort, is not just a gorgeous spot to kick back in the mountains- it’s also got a famous hot tub. No, seriously, keep reading…

Arguably the best home on the mountain, the Lodge is located on a prime corner lot, offering immediate access to trails and a chairlift, making it perfect for those looking to get the most out of skiing or snowboarding while they’re there.

It’s also incredibly spacious, with an open-concept floorplan that features a gourmet kitchen, a great room for relaxing after a day on the slopes, and a self-contained games room featuring a pool table and a bubble hockey table. And don’t worry- there’s also a gear room to make getting on and off the mountain a breeze.

Of course, what’s a trip to a place like this without people to share it with? Featuring 6 bedrooms (4 of which have en-suite bathrooms), the lodge can easily sleep 10 or more (up to 16!) people, depending on who wants to bunk up and the number of couples coming. Generating a bubble hockey bracket is going to be the toughest part of staying here.

In fact, this lodge is so iconic it served as the inspiration for the 2010 comedy movie Hot Tub Time Machine. Turns out that the producers of the movie actually stayed in this lodge before filming, and were so inspired by the hot tub out back that they recreated it in a studio.

And while we can’t say you’ll go back in time, stepping into this sunken hot tub, surrounded by trees and nature, is sure to transport you to a slopeside paradise. Wait a second, you’re already there!

The Lodge is a hot commodity, with the entire 2021/2022 ski season already booked. So, check in with your friends, and see if they don’t want to splash out for a visit next winter! You can learn more about it, and inquire about the price, on the website.
