Have you ever driven along Calgary’s Centre Street bridge and thought, “one of those oversized concrete sculptures would look super cool outside of my house.” Well, today is your lucky day, because although you can’t have one of the iconic lion’s heads, you can have a one-tonne buffalo cast from the overpass before it was refurbished.

From decorative crests and edges, Heritage Calgary has actually begun auctioning off historic pieces from iconic structures all over the city.

In addition to the bridge, you’ll also find an old sign and several ornaments from the Queen’s Hotel which was demolished in 1980 to make way for a municipal complex.

These hefty pieces date back all the way to the 1900s and are honestly, in pretty good shape with the exception of a little wear and tear. Also, because all lots opened at $1, items are pretty affordable, ranging from just $4 to $1,200.

If you’re interested in checking it out, head over to the Levis Online auction site here, but don’t hesitate. Bidding will close on April 18th, with proceeds going to Heritage Calgary’s plaque program. This really is once in a lifetime opportunity, folks! Check it out!
