This popular liquor store was just bought by Calgary Co-op & here’s what will change

Whether you’re a connoisseur or know very little about wine, chances are you’ve popped into Willow Park Wines & Spirits, a family-owned retailer with 3 very popular locations. This week, however, the store announced that they’ve been purchased by Calgary Co-op, with the transaction expected to close later this year.

Known for its customer service and a wide variety of reds, whites, spirits and beer, Willow Park Wines & Spirits was established in 1994 and run by the Henuset family.

With shops in Eau Claire, Willow Park (of course) and Regina, Saskatchewan, they’ve solidified themselves as a pre-kend staple and a dinner party must-hit – none of which we think will change.

“We have found a great partner and we are thrilled that the business will continue to be locally owned,” said Scott Henuset, outgoing owner of Willow Park Spirits & Wines.

“Through this acquisition, Willow Park Wines & Spirits will continue to grow as a brand in its key markets.”

Luckily, for those who fear their points will go to waste, Willow Park will be a wholly-owned subsidiary – meaning the store will be operated as a separate entity and will even maintain its current loyalty program.

“The acquisition of Willow Park Wines & Spirits demonstrates our ongoing investment in the community and our business,” Says Ken Keelor, CEO of Calgary Co-op.

“This represents the coming together of two long-time, community-focused Calgary retailers with deep roots in the Calgary community. We look forward to building on the strong legacy of the Willow Park brand. We are committed to the Willow Park Wines & Spirits team, and we will learn from them to create new opportunities together.”
