At the moment we really don’t recommend traveling. But when things stabilize, if you’re looking for a magical out of state retreat, you have to see this old lookout turned Airbnb. And while it’s located in Idaho, it’s actually originally from Washington!
The Crystal Peak Lookout was built way back in 1959 and was originally located in Chewelah, WA. But it was moved to Idaho in 1983 and got a big renovation in 2018. And now it’s home to probably one of the coolest Airbnb’s we’ve ever seen.

This Airbnb is located about a 6-hour drive from Seattle In Fernwood, Idaho. The only caveat about this rental is that you need 4WD to access the property so make sure your car has that before you book. But once you get to the lookout you’ll be able to enjoy all that it has to offer and 13 acres to explore.
As for the lookout itself, it’s small but cozy. You can expect a wood-burning fireplace, bed, small kitchenette area, and wrap around balcony. So this is an excellent spot to disconnect and relax with an SO or close friend. After all, we’re guessing that there isn’t a lot of service out that way. But don’t worry you do have access to an outhouse and also a sauna.
