A piece of Seattle history needs your help to survive. We’re talking about the unique cottage along West Seattle’s Harbour Ave. And you might have seen it when taking a drive by the beach. It’s pretty hard to miss, after all, it’s made entirely from hand-collected stones.

West Seattle’s Stone Cottage

The stone cottage as it’s called was built by a woman named Eva Faulk and her daughter during the Great Depression. And as we mentioned above, every single stone on the house came from the beach right out front. So not only is this home a timeless piece of history due to its material but it also shows the strength and ingenuity of Seattle’s past.

Unfortunately, the land where the house currently is is slated for a new condo build. And if you’ve lived in Seattle awhile you’ll know this is the fate that almost every cool building in the city faces. So the only option for this home’s future is to move it. And thanks to the Save The Stone Cottage group, this might just be doable.

Now if you’re wondering where it would go, that is still undecided. However, there are plans to safely move it to storage while a final home is found. But with all this in mind, time is of the essence as demolition on this property begins this month. And only half of the needed amount has been raised.

And we recommend sharing the story as the more people it reaches, the more help this house can get. But be sure to take a look at the house before you click off because as we said it’s pretty amazing.
