Here are some ways to enjoy nature in Vancouver without being outdoors

Outdoor lovers, take note. Because of Vancouver’s weather (aka rain), sometimes, we like to enjoy the outdoors… indoors. There are a handful of museums and conservatories worth checking out if you’re in need of some R&R in nature – and we’re here to share them with you.

So with that in mind, here are some ways to ‘get out in nature’ in Vancouver without going outside.

Bloedel Conservatory

We’re starting off with a quintessential ‘indoor that feels outdoor’ activity in Vancouver. At the Bloedel Conservatory, flora and fauna fans can head to the top of Queen Elizabeth Park for a colourful getaway, complete with over 100 exotic birds and 500 tropical plants and flowers to check out.

Beaty Biodiversity Museum 

Vancouver’s natural history museum has access to some of the most interesting nature around, with over 500 permanent exhibitions to discover. From the iconic Blue Whale Display (the largest in Canada!) to Dino Trackways, to the current Beneath the Emerald Green Waves and ‘Mathemalchemy’ exhibits, there’s something for every nature lover here.

H.R. MacMillan Space Centre

If you’re more of a night owl, a visit to The Planetarium Star Theatre at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre holds a ton of intrigue – with exhibits on everything from the solar system, to dark matter, to astronomical wonders that keep astronomers on their toes.

Vancouver Aquarium 

And last but certainly not least, we come to a place for the marine enthusiasts to let loose. Canada’s largest and most-loved aquarium is home to over 30 exhibits ranging from the Tropics to the Arctic. So swing by and say hi to the sea otters, tropical frogs, two-toed sloths, Pacific marine critters, and more.
