Hello folks, and welcome to another roundup of things to do this weekend in Vancouver! This weekend is pretty concert heavy, but there are a few festivals for you to check out as well. If you need us, we will be setting up shop at ZZ Top.

Here are 8 things to do this weekend in Vancouver!

Celebrate diversity at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival

What started with humble beginnings has become Western Canada’s biggest queer arts event. Tons of movies, plus an opening and closing gala to round out ten days of celebrating queer culture.

When: Today until Sunday, August 25
Where: Venues across the city

Be confused by Colter Wall’s voice

A seriously confusing sound comes from this Saskatchewan country singer. Why? Well, he looks fresh out of high school but sounds like he just smoked his 1000th pack of cigarettes and drank a bunch of rye to celebrate.

When: Friday, August 16
When: Chan Center UBC
Tickets: $99 (not a very country price point)

Enjoy a couple of brews at the Yeast Van Block Party

Basically all of Vancouver’s breweries are getting together for a day of fun, food and beer drinking. Now this is right up our alley, and you can bet your sweet bottom dollar that we will be attending. Plus, a ticket gets you 2 beers anyway.

When: Saturday, August 17
Where: Container Brewing
Tickets: $20

Get weird with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

The psychedelic Aussie rock band is returning to Vancouver, bringing with them what is sure to be a zany show. We’re talking an insanely diverse discography, and we’re excited to feel all sorts of feels.

When: Saturday, August 17
Where: Harbour Convention Centre
Tickets: $36.50

Clean your lungs at SeaWheeze

On the other end of the ‘things to do on a Saturday’ spectrum you have SeaWheeze. This massive half marathon is part run, part health festival. Apparently it’s a nice route, and you finish the day with the Sunset Festival– a party in Stanley Park featuring Kaskade and other acts.

When: Saturday, August 17
Where: Around Coal Harbour (we think)
Tickets: Sold out, but Sunset Festival tickets are still available

Watch some professional tennis

The largest tennis event in Western Canada has been going down all week. Hosted at Hollyburn in West Van, this is your chance to figure out just how good you have to be before you can shark your coworkers at the local courts.

When: Monday, August 12 to Sunday, August 18
Where: Hollyburn Country Club
Tickets: Starts at $35

Become a sharp dressed man

Our first recommendation from the PNE Summer Concert Series. ZZ Top are living legends, not just in rock but for music in general. Frankly, you’d be a fool to miss them perform live, especially since attendance is free with the price of admission.

When: Sunday, August 18
Where: PNE Amphitheatre
Tickets: $25

Check out a last call sale at Blubird

There’s no better time than right now to be shopping for deals. Swing by Blubird’s flagship store this weekend for up to 80% off of their SS19 collections. We’re talking RED Valentino, Opening Ceremony, Vince and much more… all at great prices. See you there!

When: Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 18
Where: 1108 Alberni Street

There you have it! Everything we think you should get up to this weekend. Like we said at the start, you can find us at the PNE for ZZ Top, those absolute legends.
