8 things to do in Vancouver this week (September 28-October 2)
Happy end of September, folks! Boy, time sure does fly when you’ve got so many things to do on a weekly basis, hey? (Wink wink, nudge nudge). Well, you can expect more of the same this week. Although, we’d be lying if we said that Halloween isn’t starting to fill our minds more and more. So, forgive us in advance for using the term ‘spooky season’ way too much in the next few weeks.
Anyway, here are 8 things to do this week in Vancouver!
Who doesn’t love frolicking through some corn in the fall? Stephen King, that’s who, but he also doesn’t like cozy and cuddly Saint Bernards, so we don’t respect his opinion. Head down for a few hours of autumn fun, and bring your pup along on a leash (it’s free!). That’s a double whammy for Mr. King.
When: Now through October 31
Where: 41905 Yale Road West, Chilliwack
In contrast to the other corn maze, this one does have us feeling some empathy for old Stephen. And, the physical distancing required adds a fun twist of isolation to an already terrifying experience. With no update on Fright Nights, we’re suggesting this to the thrill-seekers out there.
When: On throughout the week
Where: 790 Mckenzie Road, Abbotsford
Tickets: $35 and up, tickets being sold online only
Drive-in movies are taking place all October long at the Golden Ears Winter Club in Maple Ridge. The family-friendly lineup includes The Addams Family (2019), Coco, and The Haunted Mansion. The best part? Tickets are by donation, with a nominal fee of $5 per car.
When: All throughout October
Where: Maple Ridge
Cost: $5 plus donation at your discretion
The bridge closes on September 30th, and won’t reopen until the start of December. So, you’ve only got a few to go and experience it before winter is upon us!
When: Closes September 30th
Where: 3735 Capilano Road, North Vancouver
Cost: $54.95 (same price as an annual pass)
Going down in Kitsilano, this socially-distant concert is admission by donation. Full honesty- we didn’t know most of the songs being featured, but the John Cage inclusion has us feeling that this is going to be some pretty cerebral music. Beautiful sounds, though!
When: Friday, October 2
Where: Hadden Park, 1015 Maple Street
Cost: Admission by donation
With fall comes apple picking season and with that in mind, we compiled a few places near Vancouver for you to check out. So head out solo, with your SO or a few friends. After all, there are so many tasty things you can make with apples.

Everyone’s favourite local film festival kicks off this weekend and you have a ton of amazing events and films to choose from. So we highly suggest that you take a peek at what’s being offered. After all, this only happens once a year!
When: September 24-October 7
Cost: $9 and up
In our opinion, fall is the most gorgeous time of the year. We can start rocking layered outfits, the changing colours make for some stunning views, and the weather is still warm enough that we can enjoy the outdoors a ton. With that in mind, why not check out some fall colours this week? Sure, you can see them just about anywhere, but we’ve put together our picks to make finding the best spots even easier.
