Brr! This week is looking pretty dang gross. But hey, when has that ever stopped us from providing you with the best things to do in Vancouver? Never. And if it does, we want you to email us your frustration. Hold us to a high standard, dear reader!

Anyway, here are 8 awesome things to do in Vancouver this week.

Movies in the Morgue

If you didn’t know, the Vancouver Police Museum hosts monthly screenings in their old morgue. No, we’re not joking about this. In fact, the majority of the lineup for this year has already sold out, but a waitlist is available!

When: Tuesday, January 14
Where: 240 E Cordova Street
Cost: Sold out, join the waitlist here

Half Moon Run

This Montreal group’s percussion-heavy sound has been described as everything from indie-rock and dreamy alt-pop to psychedelic indie. This month, sway to their angelic harmonies and vibe to their unique sound when they take the stage at Queen Elizabeth.

When: Wednesday, January 15
Where: Queen Elizabeth Theatre, 630 Hamilton S
Cost: $69

King Princess

This Brooklyn indie-pop singer broke out in 2019 with her hit single ‘1950’. Lucky for us, that’s but one song on a great discography!

When: Thursday, January 16
Where: Queen Elizabeth Theatre, 630 Hamilton S
Cost: $42.25

Canucks vs. Coyotes

If we’re being honest, we didn’t expect either of these teams to perform as well as they have this year. Catch the Canucks as they face off against the Coyotes, the sleeper team co-signed by Biznasty.

When: Thursday, January 16
Where: Rogers Arena, 800 Griffiths Way
Cost: $45 USD and up on Stubhub

YBN Cordae

This dude is a young rapper from North Carolina that has enmeshed himself in the Californian rap scene. Rather than go with the current contemporary rap tropes, Cordae is looking to NY heavyweights like Nas, Big L and Jay-Z for inspiration.

When: Friday, January 17
Where: Fortune Sound Club, 147 E Pender St
Cost: Sold out, check StubHub for resale tickets

Vancouver Warriors

We’re recommending this because on Friday the Warriors are doing a ‘Beach Party’ night. What better way to avoid the cold than with a Corona, some pals, and a Hawaiian shirt? Honestly, this will be as much of a party as it is a lacrosse game.

When: Friday, January 17
Where: Rogers Arena, 800 Griffiths Way
Cost: $12.95 and up

Artist Talk: Mike Bourscheid

You might not recognize the name, but this is the guy who was commissioned by the Art Gallery to do the most recent off-site installation. This free talk will be followed by a final performance of his piece ‘Ledgers’ at the Vancouver Art Gallery Offsite space.

When: Friday, January 17
Where: Shangri-La Hotel, 1128 W Georgia Street
Cost: Free to attend!

Dine Out Vancouver

You already know what’s going on. This massive food and drink festival has too many events to name, but we’ll make sure to explore it fully as we get closer to the start date. Check out early picks for where to eat and our favourite events.

When: Starts Friday, January 17
Where: Venues around Vancouver
Cost: $15-$45

We kind of jumped all over the place for our things to do this week. Food events, concerts, sports, art… are we cultured yet?
