Woah, nelly. It’s not even a month into the year and we might already have a frontrunner for the best ‘lost and found cash’ story in Vancouver. Multiple news outlets have confirmed that workers at the Value Village on Venables Street found some $85,000 in cash amongst donations earlier this week. Here’s what went down.

Apparently, a family was clearing out the storage locker of an elderly family member who had recently moved to a long-term care home. They unknowingly donated the massive sum alongside other bags of items.

We were a little skeptical at first, as well. But, the bills ranged from the 1950s to the 80s, so it was likely that the cash had been sitting in that spot for decades. Fortunately, there were a couple of bank receipts in there too, which had the info needed to track down the rightful owner.

As for Value Village, they immediately alerted the authorities, who helped with verifying the cash’s return. Dang, we might have to take a trip down to Value Village soon, and see if we can’t come across some other stuff from that storage locker.

Enjoy the weekend, folks!
