The Sea to Sky Gondola just got a major upgrade

For those of you who were planning on checking out the Sea to Sky Gondola this summer, you’ll be happy to know that they made a major upgrade recently. On May 31, the Sea to Sky added an additional 10 gondolas to their inventory.

The upgrade is important for two reasons. The first is that the addition essentially doubles lift capacity. So, visitors won’t have to wait nearly as long to return to the bottom. And it was a long wait, sometimes reaching 45 minutes.

Second, the gondola won’t have to move as fast, meaning that people will have more opportunity to enjoy the views. The new average gondola speed is 3.5m/second instead of the 5 they’ve been running at. So, you get around 30% longer to take in the views as your return.

Any way you look at it, the recent upgrade is good news for the Sea to Sky Gondola. Especially because they hope to introduce a new Skywalk sometime in 2020.
