With both provincial and federal governments turning up the heat on restrictions and health advisories, it is nice to see a little optimism from the CFL. On Friday, the league announced that its first game of 2021 will take place on June 10th of next summer, between Hamilton and Winnipeg.

The CFL has claimed that the 2021 season will focus on regional rivalries to help reduce travel for the players. But, they’re also hopeful that they will be able to play ‘in front of fans’. So, it will be interesting to see how that works out, especially if COVID-19 vaccines are available by then.

The announcement follows a difficult season for the league in general. After much deliberation, the CFL decided not to play, and cancelled the Grey Cup for the first time since starting in 1919. So, we’re sure that football fans nationwide are looking forward to cheering on their home teams once more.
