Only one Canadian city named on ’50 Bucket List World Destinations’ list

And guess what? It was us! Ok, well, we respect the nod from Big 7 Travel that we’re the best in Canada, but we’re a little bummed that we’re the only city to make their bucket list.  The massive travel website polled their 1.5 million Instagram followers, and the results are a little surprising.

Some fun facts about the research first. Big 7 found that roughly a third of people research destinations via Instagram. Meanwhile, about half of the places on the list are considered ‘iconic’. Finally, people have on average 11 places on their list, and want to visit at least 7 of them.

The Top 50 Bucket List Destinations in the world are scattered all over the place, ranging from India to Antartica. While we personally think that Kruger National Park in Africa should be higher up, we actually agree with most of the top 20.

  1. Bali, Indonesia
  2. New Orleans, U.S.
  3. Kerry, Ireland (weird but ok)
  4. Marrakech, Morocco
  5. Sydney, Australia
  6. The Maldives
  7. Paris, France
  8. Cape Town, South Africa
  9. Dubai, U.A.E.
  10. Bora Bora, French Polynesia
  11. New York, U.S.
  12. Dubrovnik, Croatia
  13. Edinburgh, Scotland
  14. Rome, Italy
  15. Paro Valley, Bhutan
  16. Jaipur, India
  17. Waikato, New Zealand
  18. Havana, Cuba
  19. Tokyo, Japan
  20. Antarctica

Anyway, Vancouver came in at number 21, right after Antarctica and right before Los Angeles. We don’t mind that sandwich at all. But, still, it’s like people have never even heard of the unbridled beauty of the Canadian north. Maybe next year.
