This may or may not come as a surprise but the way that people are viewing transit has changed completely. In fact, more commuters are now walking or biking to work instead of taking public transit. And honestly, that makes a lot of sense.

But it’s not as many people as you may think. Right now about 13% of people take public transit. But during the pandemic, that number has dropped down near 3%. So clearly, there’s a fear around taking public transit. And we don’t blame people as masks have just become mandatory this month in many places.

Not to mention, these numbers will continue to shift as more people work from home. And on top of all of this, the percentage of private car usage has remained a bit wonky. It’s fluctuated quite a bit. But out of all of this data, the most important thing to note is that 34% of people have changed their mode of transportation from public transit.

So who knows what the future of public transit looks like. Personally, we love the bus and hope that people continue to use it. But we also understand people’s fears about being around others. So if you’d like to see more of this data you can click here!
