Guide: 5 outdoor pools in Van to try this weekend
According to the Vancouver Sun, all of our outdoor pools will be opening this Saturday, May 18. We like that news, and want to let you know everywhere you can go to take advantage of it. Let’s face facts- it’s not exactly hot enough for us to do a guide to beaches quite yet, but we’re close.
Here are all of Vancouver’s outdoor pools.
We have to give it up to one of the most popular in the city first. Sitting directly on the beach, this is definitely the go-to for a lot of people. We can’t blame them, though, it’s convenient and in a great location. Fun fact- it’s Vancouver’s only saltwater swimming pool.
Another great choice for those that want to stay near the beach. This heated pool has got separate lanes for lap swimming if you want, but it’s also just fun to splash around a bit before you head into Stanley Park.
Hillcrest Aquatic Centre is the largest in Vancouver, so the outdoor pool is kind of the icing on an already pretty tasty cake. Located near Queen Elizabeth Park, it’s a great choice for those who want to enjoy a day in Mount Pleasant.
This spot in Hastings-Sunrise is a great choice for those chilling in East Van. Maybe you got too hot at the horse track or at Playland. Head here to cool down a little bit in the afternoon before you go out for dinner.
The only shallow pool in the city, so keep that in mind. Maybe you need to keep your nieces and nephews entertained for the day. Bring them here and you’ve got at least 2 hours covered. There’s also basketball hoops in the pool, so you can stay entertained, too.
And there you have it! The full guide to Vancouver’s outdoor pools. Admission is cheap too, with most of them only charging $6.10. The only one that doesn’t is Maple Grove, which costs a mere $2.86. Talk about a bargain!
