We jumped the gun when we claimed that dog fashion was going to be the talk of the town in 2020. Turns out, the face mask is absolutely being crowned king this summer. Hey, if Canada’s leading health official thinks that it’s a good idea, then we have to agree with her.
So, here are 7 Vancouver brands to get face masks from!
MEC
Full disclosure, we picked a lot of these knowing that their masks would be sold out online, but probably not in store. So, we’re leading things off with MEC, the beloved co-op that has been supplying outdoor enthusiasts for decades.
Herschel Supply Co.
Much like MEC, these guys released a mask that sold out online almost immediately. Swing by the Gastown store when it reopens though and see if they’ve got any extra kicking around. And if you can’t do that, they have said that they will be restocking online ASAP.
Vancouver Whitecaps x Vancouver Aquarium
Yup, the Whitecaps partnered up with the Aquarium to sell some masks. And, all of the profits go towards supporting the Aquarium in these tumultuous times. This is definitely one of our top picks off of the list. Plus, the mascots are cute as heck!

Oak + Fort
Probably the most stylish face mask off of this list. Hey, we appreciate good design in all of its formats, so it would be rude of us to not include this pick. Want to look amazing while still being safe? This is our top choice for you.
Make
Make usually specializes in custom t-shirts and stuff, but they’ve expanded to offer face masks. The best part? For each mask you buy, one will be donated to at-risk kids in and around Vancouver. For that reason, these folks are definitely our other go-to pick.
Arc’Teryx
Ok, this is more of an “I want a balaclava and this is as good of an excuse as any” situation. But hey, you’ve got to take opportunities as they come to you. Plus, you can easily turn this into, you know, a functional balaclava once the pandemic is over.
Make your own
For the creative (or frugal) among you. Who says you need to buy a mask? Grab a sweet looking t-shirt or tote bag or something, then pick up a filter or two from Make (see above). With a little sewing, you’ll have a fully functional, and custom, face mask in no time!
