Alright, so you’ve got a little more time available, and long weekend events and activities just won’t satisfy you this time around. Lucky for you that we also have a list of last minute long weekend trips you can take. Get out there and explore the province a little bit, you can thank us later.
Here are our top 5 long weekend getaways.
Everybody goes to Tofino, but Ucluelet is a) just as beautiful and b) close enough that you can make a day trip to Tofino without issue. Take advantage of this sleepy town, explore the coast’s old growth forests, and do not forget to stop at Tacofino.
Salt Spring Island
Slow things down even more with a trip to Salt Spring instead of Vancouver Island. This low key community has everything you need to escape the city, from parks to local shopping to fun art galleries. The incredible beauty doesn’t hurt, either.
Our final ferry destination. Gibsons is the most accessible town on the sunshine coast. It’s also basically the start of the Sunshine Coast Highway, which winds 76km north to end at Earls Cove. Like scenic drives? This is the spot for you.
You can also stay in Pemberton or Squamish, but we have to admit that Whistler might be the best choice. It’s got great dining, a crazy gondola experience, and tons of hikes nearby. To boot, the Great Outdoors Festival takes place this weekend.
We picked Kelowna because you can drive out Friday after work and still have 2 and a half days of fun. What kind of fun? Well, wine touring fun. Have you ever seen the movie Sideways? We’re aiming to recreate that, minus the adultery, because that’s rude.
And those are our top 5 weekend getaways for the long weekend! Get out there and enjoy yourself, Vancouver, you’ve earned it.
