Howdy folks! Welcome to the third instalment of our brewery guide to Vancouver. We’ve already tackled Mount Pleasant and Grandview-Woodland, so now we’re checking out the breweries of North Vancouver! This neighbourhood has been exploding this past couple of years. Now, it’s more than worth the day trip!

Here is our brewery guide to North Vancouver.

North Point Brewing

North Point brewing created a venue with home in mind. Or, err, maybe a cabin. That means you’ll be seeing lots of wood accents, including a gas fireplace. As you sip, you’ll be feeling nice and cozy with pillows, soft lighting, and candles. As for beer, they offer 2 core beers while the other 7 are rotating taps.

Hours: Tuesday, 3PM-9:30PM, Wednesday, 12PM-9:30PM, Thursday, 2PM-10PM, Friday/Saturday, 12PM-11PM Sunday, 12PM-9:30PM, closed Monday
Where: 266 1st Street East, North Vancouver

House of Funk Brewing

Correct us if we’re wrong, but we also don’t know of any brewery in Canada that doubles as a roastery. Sure, there’s the uber-popular Modern Times in LA, but that’s it. So, knowing that House of Funk has its own roasting program to boot really sets them apart from the rest of the pack. Well, that and the fact that they’re already winning awards for the beers.

Hours: Monday to Wednesday, 7:30AM-8PM, Thursday, 7:30AM-9:3PM, Friday, 7:30AM-11PM, Saturday, 9AM-11PM and Sunday, 9AM-8PM
Where: 350 Esplanade E

Beere Brewing

These guys are trailblazers in North Van’s new brewery scene, so on that alone they deserve a spot on this list. But, they’ve also got fantastic beer selection with rotating taps, fun collaborations, and the best catchphrase. Have a Beere this week, folks!

Hours: Monday to Wednesday, 1PM-9PM, Thursday to Saturday, 12PM-11PM and Sunday, 12PM-8PM
Where: 312 Esplanade E

Streetcar Brewing

Inspired by the old streetcars that used to toodle around North Van, Streetcar Brewing was in the works for years before opening. Now, you can check out this hidden brewery in the heart of LoLo. We’re ashamed to admit it, but Boston Pizza by the slice was the perfect choice for food here.

Hours: Sunday/Wednesday, 12PM-9PM, Thursday, 2PM-10PM and Friday/Saturday, 12PM-11PM, closed Monday/Tuesday
Where: 123A 1st Street E

Green Leaf Brewing

Located in Lonsdale Quay Market, Green Leaf brews up both beers and kombucha. That’s a pretty fun mix, plus they let you order whatever you want to the tasting room. Perfect for when the group has about 8 different ideas on what to eat.

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 11AM-10PM, Friday/Saturday, 11AM-11PM and Sunday, 11AM-9PM
Where: Lonsdale Quay Market, 123 Carrie Cates Court

Black Kettle Brewing

These guys and Green Leaf are some of the founding members of North Van’s beer scene, having opened years before the latest crop showed up. Straightforward beers paired with great food and they’ve got some history? Now that’s the kind of prestige we’re looking for.

Hours: Monday/Tuesday, 2PM-7PM, Wednesday, 11AM-7PM, Thursday to Sunday, 11AM-8PM
Where: 720 Copping Street

Bridge Brewing

And finally, we arrive at the real OG around these parts. Vancouver’s first nano-brewery opened way back in 2012 (practically prehistoric by now) and has been hitting home runs ever since. In fact, it was customer demand that forced them to grow, not the other way around.

Hours: Daily, 11AM-11PM
Where: 1448 Charlotte Road

There are honestly so many breweries in North Vancouver that these lists are mostly us reminding ourselves what’s out there. Plus, when they’re all super good it’s hard to ignore going and checking them out. Round up your friends and do an impromptu brewery tour next time it’s sunny!
