As we approach spring, all we can think about is summer. But, if we only eat at these Vancouver restaurants, we can pretend it’s summer starting today. From tiki bars to iconic restaurants, these spots are guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a Jimmy Buffett shirt on your back. The perfect outfit for spring? We think so.

Here are 7 Vancouver restaraunts that feel like summer year-round.

Shameful Tiki

The drinks here, hoo boy, are life-changing. Predominantly rum-based, they are equally delicious and, for lack of a better word, powerful. Hey, we’re not complaining! Plus, we are confident that Shameful Tiki has the best interior in the city for summer vibes, hands down.

Hours: Sunday to Thursday 5 PM-12 AM and Friday/Saturday 5 PM-1 AM
Where: 4362 Main Street

Nuba Vancouver

nuba vancouver

The Nuba in Gastown is one of the most light-filled basement restaurants we’ve ever been to. White walls, plants and light wood furnishings help to illuminate the area, and it’s a far cry from what we’d expect when dining underground. Combine that with some mezze and a few plates for the table? It could be legit snowing outside, and you wouldn’t notice.

Where: 4 locations throughout the city
When: Hours vary by location

Kokomo

A lot of places offer veggie and vegan bowls, but we have to give a special shoutout to Kokomo for doing it the best. Aruba, Jamaica, ooh we wanna take ya… Plus, the interior design makes us feel like we should be ordering some pineapple flavoured thing in Hawaii.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8 AM-8 PM and Saturday/Sunday 10 AM-4 PM
Where: Multiple locations

Havana

havana

With an emphasis on paying homage to the glory and energy of Old Havana, this restaurant brings a little bit of Cuba to Canada. Plus, how can you turn down a Cubano and a cocktail? We certainly couldn’t, even if it was *shudders* under 5 degrees Celsius.

Hours: Monday to Friday 11 AM-11 PM and Saturday/Sunday 10 AM-11: 45 PM
Where: 1212 Commercial Drive

Gringo

A hole in the wall spot in Blood Alley, Gringo serves up tasty Mexican treats and has some of the lowest drink prices in the city. Plus, their drink buckets (while not culturally relevant) will transport you to a full moon party right here in Vancouver.

Hours: Sunday to Thursday 11:30 AM-1 AM and Saturday/Sunday 11:30 AM-2 AM
Where: 27 Blood Alley Square

Afghan Horsemen

Afghan Horsemen has been attracting tourists and locals alike since 1974. The restaurant features Middle Eastern decor, complete with some absolutely great tapestries. Pair that with an authentic Afghani menu, and just like Nuba, you’ll easily lose track of what’s going on outside.

Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 5 PM-10 PM and Friday/Saturday, 5 PM-11 PM
Where: 1833 Anderson Street

Calabash Caribbean Bistro

A great menu, a nice space, and a rum lounge downstairs? Yup, we definitely have to throw Calabash Bistro on this list. The best way to experience it, in our eyes, is by grabbing dinner first and then heading downstairs for one of their live music nights. But hey, that’s just us.

Hours: Sunday/Tuesday-Thursday 5 PM-12 AM, Friday/Saturday 5 PM-2 AM, closed Monday
Where: 428 Carrall Street

There we have it! These are the best restaurants in Vancouver for when you want to feel like it’s summer. Swing by with some friends and treat yourself for us this week, pals.
