Guide: 6 great Greek restaurants to hit for Heritage Month
There’s no better way to celebrate Greek Heritage Month than by checking out some great Greek restaurants in Vancouver. Well, maybe hitting the Greek Day on Broadway… But it’s a toss-up. Anyway, we put together a guide to help you explore.
Here are 6 Greek restaurants in Vancouver to go check out.
A classic Greco-Roman restaurant that has been in Kitsilano for 50 years. If that’s not enough to sell you on a great Greek meal, then we don’t know what is. The courtyard patio is pretty darn neat, too.
Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 11AM-10:45PM and Friday/Saturday, 11AM-11:45PM
Where: 2222 W 4th Avenue
Good spot for homemade Greek dishes. Get some tzatziki and pita to start. Afterward, how about some souvlaki plates, maybe chicken and lamb? If you’re feeling like you need something heartier, don’t worry. The mousaka or the lasagna will definitely hit the spot!
Hours: Daily, 11:30AM-11:30PM
Where: 1124 Davie Street
We’re recommending Takis’ Taverna because they have a screaming deal of a catering menu. So, round up 9 of your friends, pay $14 each, and get an absolute feast for your next toga party.
Hours: Daily, 11AM-10PM
Where: 1106 Davie Street
With three different locations in the city and a killer menu, The Greek by Anatoli is the best casual restaurant to visit. It’s the perfect mix between delicious Greek cuisine and a laidback Vancouver vibe. It gets the stamp of approval.
Hours: Varies by location
Where: Locations in Yaletown, Gastown and North Vancouver
Turns out the name comes from a Greek island in the south of the country near Athens. It looks pretty darn beautiful- we could see why people would want to model a restaurant after it. Thank goodness this spot does it justice.
Hours: Breakfast Daily, 7AM-10AM, Lunch Monday to Friday, 11AM-3PM and Dinner Daily, 5PM-11PM
Where: The EXchange Hotel, 475 Howe Street
An upscale, intimate spot near Granville Island that only has 50 seats. Apollonia models their service off of philoxenia, which is the art of making a stranger a friend. We can admit it gets easier when you’re being served delicious food. Heads up- the desserts are second to none.
Hours: Lunch Wednesday to Friday, 11:30AM-2:30PM and Dinner Tuesday to Sunday, 4:30PM-9:30PM, Closed Monday
Where: 1830 Fir Street
Opa! Our favourite Greek spots to hit up in Vancouver. Make sure that you check at least one of these out before the end of the month. Honestly, Greek food was designed for the summer, so make the most of it.
