With spring right around the corner, we’re all of a sudden wondering what kinds of eats we can treat ourselves to this year. Lucky for us, there’s no shortage of amazing restaurants gearing up to open in Vancouver, from fine dining to neighbourhood joints. Let’s see what’s out there!

Here are 5 restaurants we can’t wait to open in Vancouver.

Juanita

The owners of the ever-popular Lift Bakery in North Vancouver have decided to open a sibling spot in Kits! While you can grab a lot of the same delicious breakfast items, there will also be an all-day menu available. They’re so close to opening, they’ve already announced their first partner, Luppolo Brewing!

When: Anticipated to open in March

Ca Marche

There’s very little info out there about this new crepe spot coming to the Vancouver House. However, we know that it’s from the same people as Au Comptoir, which is one of the best French restaurants in the city. And, we know the focus will be on more savoury, Breton-style buckwheat crepes.

When: Anticipated in 2021
Where: 1408 Continental Street

Saola

Originally announced in the fall of last year, Saola is a new venture featuring the owner of Do Chay, so we’re expecting big things. The cuisine is supposed to focus on Southeast Asian regions, which gives a pretty wide range of options. One thing’s for sure, it’ll be worth swinging by.

When: Anticipated for 2021
Where: 2415 Main Street

Miantiao

Kitchen Table Restaurants (Ask for Luigi, Pourhouse, etc…) are behind this new fine dining option replacing MARKET by Jean-Georges at the Shangri-La Hotel. The cuisine will be Italian-Chinese fusion (main tiao is ‘noodles’ in Mandarin), so we’re looking forward to some crazy dishes.

Menya Itto

Vancouver has this weird feedback loop where the more ramen spots we have, the more want to come. Vancouver is the first North American outpost of this chain specializing in tsukemen-style ramen. The problem? They were slated to open in the summer of 2020, but have gone radio silent since then.

PAUL

Speaking of international names, this French bakery is in the final stages of opening. It’s been a long time coming, too- the news originally broke way back in February of 2020. We’ll give them a pass on the extended timeframe though, since, you know, the whole world hit the pause button for a bit there.
