So, we’ve already put out our first guide for the best BC wineries to visit this summer, but even then we knew that we would have to write at least one more. There are just too many to pick from in our great province. This time around, we’re focusing on the more southern wineries.
Here are 9 more BC wineries that you have to visit this summer.
Road 13
If you could only visit one winery off of this list, it should be Road 13. Named the best winery in Canada in 2018, these guys have solidified their place as a must visit in the region. Located south of Oliver in the ‘Golden Mile’, Road 13 is the shining star of BC’s wine industry.
Nk’Mip
Our second choice for a winery to check out, Nk’Mip (Inkameep) came in at number 5 of the list of Canada’s best wineries in 2018 and took second place in BC. They’re also the first Indigenous owned winery in the country, which is a fun aside.

Silver Sage
Another great winery located in the Golden Mile Bench. The husband and wife team emigrated to Canada from Romania some three decades ago, where they had four generations of winemaking there behind them.
Black Hills
These guys win the award for the coolest looking estate. Plus, they’ve got an excellent red blend, the ‘Nota Bene’, that is perfect for those looking for an upscale bottle to bring to their next dinner party. Also, the Pinot Noir Rosé is a treat.
Burrowing Owl
One of the best wineries to treat as a home base during your stay, since Burrowing Owl’s guest house is gorgeous. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that their wines are tasty, too. Especially their syrah, make sure you don’t pass that one up.
Kismet
Translating to ‘destiny’ or ‘fate’, Kismet is the resulting of two decades of working closely with the land. Having only opened in 2013, the winery has enjoyed a ton of awards in a very short amount of time. Our recommendation? The Karma, which is mostly a merlot/cab. franc blend.
Hester Creek
Definitely one of the oldest vineyards in BC, with the first vines planted way back in 1968. That’s not all, though, because the Pinot Gris here has been winning awards ever since. History and prestige? That’s the good stuff.
Gehringer Brothers
This one is for the white wine lovers out there. The winery has been producing some of the best white varietals in Canada for years, and their long list of awards confirms it. Try the riesling, try the sauv. blanc, heck, try em all!
Desert Hills
The final winery we’re recommending you check out in the area. It’s their gamay that shines here, perfect for those looking for a light bodied, fruity wine with a somewhat peppery finish. Think of it as Pinot Noir’s heartier, more consistent younger brother.
