We are addicted to coffee, alongside the rest of Vancouver, if the number of coffee shops in Gastown means anything at all. Roasters, boutique shops, and cafés litter the area, and there is no shortage of finding the perfect spot for your next coffee date or meeting.

With all that in mind, here are the 7 best coffee shops in Gastown.

Milano

milano yvr

Milano has been in business in Vancouver since 1984, making them by far the most experienced coffee shop in the area. These guys switch up the menu at a rate that puts wine bars to shame. Their espresso roasts can use up to 13 different origin coffees, creating flavour profiles that are as delicious as they are interesting.

Hours: Monday to Saturday, 7AM-9PM and Sunday, 8AM-9PM
Where: 36 Powell Street

Timbertrain

timbertrain

With one of the most interesting interiors in the area, Timbertrain has proven itself to be a great spot to sit down for a coffee and some pastry. In roasting their own blends, they spare no effort to ensure that they impress even the most die-hard coffee aficionados.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7AM-6PM and Saturday/Sunday, 8AM-6PM
Where: 311 W Cordova Street

Revolver

Probably the most well-known amongst the hipster crowd (not an insult, just an observation), Revolver arguably started the wave of the ‘coffee bar’ concept in Vancouver. Rather than create their own coffee, they source the best of the best from around the world on a rotating menu.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30AM-6PM, Saturday, 9AM-6PM, Closed Sunday
Where: 325 Cambie Street

The Birds and the Beets

This spot is just as good for a light snack as it is for coffee, and we love the fact that we can buy flowers to brighten our (or a loved one’s) day. The brioche is delicious, and the avocado and poached egg sandwich is one of the best deals in the city.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7AM-6PM and Saturday/Sunday, 9AM-5PM
Where: 55 Powell Street

Nemesis

Our personal preference from the list, Nemesis is going to be the brand that changes Vancouver’s coffee scene, just you wait. Don’t believe us? Well, go ahead our exclusive article on the future of Nemesis here and we’re sure you’ll be changing your mind.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8AM-6PM and Saturday/Sunday, 9AM-5PM
Where: 302 W Hastings Street

East Van Roasters

With a similar business model as Community Thrift, East Van Roasters is just as much about empowering those in the DTES community as it is about coffee. Lucky for us that their roasts and house-made chocolates are absolutely delicious. So, bean-water lovers, if there’s one brand to support, it’s this one.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9AM-5PM, and Saturday, 12PM-5PM, Closed Sundays
Where: 319 Carrall Street

Nelson the Seagull

Another hipster paradise (once again, not an insult), Nelson the Seagull has transformed a heritage building into one of the coolest cafés in the city. Also, they’ve got some of the best bread as well (no joke), and space is perfect for an extended coffee date.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8AM-4PM and Saturday/Sunday, 9AM-4PM
Where: 315 Carrall Street
