Enjoy a Mediterranean feast at downtown’s newest hot spot

Just in time for summer, another seafood-focused restaurant has opened its doors. Hydra Estiatorio is a new Mediterranean spot here in Vancouver, set inside the EXchange Hotel. For those who need a refresher, the EXchange Hotel has only been open for about a year, making it a fresh face in the city as well.

As for Hydra, it turns that it is named after a Greek island in the south of the country near Athens. It looks pretty darn beautiful- we could see why people would want to model a restaurant after it. As for what estiatorio means, it turns out it’s just a more upscale spot than a taverna.

Anyway, Vancouver, head over to Hydra for an amazing dining experience. From the 60-foot atrium to the 40-person bar, Hydra is as visually stunning as it is tasty.

And boy, is it ever tasty. Start with some oysters and the grilled octopus. Then, try out lamb chops, or, if you’re willing the share, the market fresh fish grilled whole. Finish off with some baklava, and you’ll be trying to book a flight to Greece before you leave.
