Burnaby is losing one of Canada’s most iconic restaurants

Well, folks, we’re about to lose another one of the city’s most celebrated restaurants. And sadly it’s Burnaby’s Pear Tree restaurant which is closing after over 20 years of delicious food. This comes after the pandemic and some pretty tricky landlord issues.

The Pear Tree has celebrated regional ingredients through classic techniques and preparation. Which has set it apart from many other restaurants in the East Hastings area. And it has won several awards throughout its existence including a spot on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants of 2020 list. So clearly The Pear Tree knew a thing or two.

So while The Pear Tree is closing its doors permanently, they will be taking reservations until August 15th. And the owner’s Chef Scott and Stephanie Jaeger will continue with their in-home catering service. Not to mention, they will be looking for a new space to start a new dining venture.

So while this news is very sad we are excited to see what the Jaegers do next. And if you are able we highly recommend that you try and snag a reservation before The Pear Tree closes on August 15th.
