Autostrada arrives with the best Italian food in town
After rebranding and a brief renovation, Cinara will be opening its doors as the newest location of Autostrada on January 17. Cinara, which opened in 2014, won multiple awards and quickly became a chef favourite in the city. This kind of success turned Cinara into a fine dining destination, in contrast to the smaller, more laidback Osteria on Main Street.
Now, with an emphasis on casual dining and a relaxed atmosphere, the new Autostrada Downtown hopes to provide the same experience as Osteria in a larger, 60-seat space. The menu will include everything available at Osteria, but with the addition of protein forward dishes and family-style share plates.
Based on the critical success of Cinara and the popularity of Osteria, Autostrada Downtown looks like it’s going to be a shoe-in for one of the best restaurants in the city.

If you’ve yet to check out Autostrada Osteria, or you can’t wait a week, then we’ve got your next visit covered.
First, dive in on antipasti with the traditional Vitello Tonnatto, made with poached veal loin, tuna and capers. For mains, make sure you try the spaghetti bolognese (a staple dish of both Autostrada and Cinara) and the daily special for stuffed pasta.
We’d be lying if we said that a drink doesn’t complete the experience, so be prepared to get a glass of wine from their (fully Italian) rotating list as well.
We’ll see you there, Vancouver!
