An iconic Metro Vancouver country bar has closed for good

After 34 years of service, the legendary Gabby’s Country Cabaret in Langley has announced that it will be closing its doors for good. The country bar has been a Metro Vancouver institution for decades, so we’re sad to see it go.

According to the press release, Gabby’s is actually one of the oldest nightclubs in the province, having stood for over 3 decades. For context, The Roxy Cabaret (another famous country bar) is actually 2 years younger than Gabby’s, so it’s absolutely got some history.

And like The Roxy, Gabby’s required at least one pilgrimage from young adults throughout the region. Same with the infamous Roosters in Pitt Meadows which sadly shuttered last year. Boy, country bars have been hit hard these past few years. One silver lining though is that the owner is looking to the future, and potential new ventures once things cool down.

But still, we hope that you got your memories in while the bar was still around! If not, we need you to visit at least one country bar once its safe to in its memory. It’s only fair, partner.
