When we look back on 2020, one weird (and very welcome) thing that will stick out in our minds is the explosion of vegan cuisine across the city. So, we thought why not write a list for vegan takeout and delivery in Vancouver? From international options to hearty cooking for a colder day, Vancouver’s got something for everyone.

Here are some great spots for vegan takeout and delivery in Vancouver.

The newest venture from the folks behind Virtuous Pie has been an out and out hit. MILA offers a wide range of menu items, but gets the shoutout for some amazing sushi. Definitely try the Aburi Lox Sushi, which comes with carrot lox, aburi sauce, shiso and a little serrano pepper for a touch of heat.

Eternal Abundance

In addition to the cafe, Eternal Abundance is also an amazing grocery store (which also has delivery). The diverse menu has a bunch of classics like bowls and wraps. However, we recommend trying the raw sandwich at least once, which uses a raw onion bread that this spot is known for.

Where: 1025 Commercial Drive

Chi Vegan

Following a complete overhaul of the menu, this Kitsilano spot specializing in Vietnamese cuisine is now entirely plant-based. So, we’re recommending either the pho or the bun if you haven’t eaten here before. But personally, we think we’re going to try the dan dan option next time.

Pizzeria Grano

Another newcomer this year, Pizzeria Grano is now in the old Don’t Argue! spot on Main Street. And, we won’t argue that they’re bringing absolutely delicious plant-based pizza options. But, we wouldn’t expect anything less, since this is the work of Via Tevere, one of the best pizza spots in the city, period.

Kind Cafe

This Main Street spot has been open for just over a year now, and we think you should check it out if you haven’t yet. Here, we’re recommending trying the smoothies, the bagels, and the cake jars. And like Eternal Abundance, you can also pick up some great pantry items off the website.

Where: 3080 Main Street

Beetbox is perfect if you’re craving a burger or a sandwich. But that’s not surprising, since JUKE is behind the concept. We recommend working your way through the entire menu. Of course, kick things off with the Fried Chick-Un burger (regular or hot), to see what tall the fuss is about.

Where: 1074 Davie Street

Lotus Seed

Lotus Seed has the most diverse menu on this list, but we’re down for it. Sure, you can grab a few breakfast options like a mung bean ‘omelette’ (a fan favourite) or a portobello eggs benedict. But, we’re most excited to check out the Asian dishes, like their specialty pho or hanoi soups.

Where: 736 W Broadway

Bad Apple

Another super recent addition to Vancouver, Bad Apple is perfect for some comfort food vegan takeout on a colder day. Cauliflower wings, poutine and loaded frieds, nachos… yeah, this menu pairs perfectly with an evening on the couch streaming shows.

Where: 2481 E Hastings Street
