5 markets in Van worth checking out in 2019
Spring is here and summer is almost upon us, and you know what that means. That’s right, now’s the time to get yourself prepped for all the summer markets happening in and around Vancouver. What’s a relaxing weekend without a couple of bags of organic apples and maybe an artisanal wallet or incense holder? Nothing, that’s what.
Here are 5(ish) summer markets happening in Vancouver this summer.
This one only happens once this summer so mark it down on your calendars. Here’s where you see what Vancouver’s Italian community has to offer. We want baked goods, olive oil and maybe some cured meats. Fingers crossed for some imported keychains, that would be fire.
When: June 14, 4:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Where: 3075 Slocan Street
Happening every Saturday starting in May, the Fort Langley Farmers Market offers a wide variety of vendors. From local wine to food to antique furniture, you’re guaranteed to find something here that will make the trip worth it. If you don’t, just swing by the antique mall after.
When: Every Saturday from May 4 to October 26, 10 AM – 3 PM
Where: 9025 Glover Road, Fort Langley
This coalition movement is setting up shop all around the city for the duration of the summer. Easily the most accessible on this list, and a good alternative to breaking down at Whole Foods when you can’t find any good peaches.
When: Depends on the location, usually Saturdays/Sundays
Where: Markets will be in Riley Park, Trout Lake, the West End, Kits, Mt. Pleasant, Main Street Station and Downtown
One of the two-night markets we’re featuring, Shipyards will be getting pretty bumping this year. There’s live music, a beer garden, and of course, a bunch of people selling their wares. It’s the perfect way to finish up a trip to a brewpub or the Polygon Gallery.
When: Friday, May 3 to September to 27, 5PM-10PM
Where: Shipbuilders’ Square, North Van
The absolute staple for Vancouver, and worth checking out at least one. Marvel at the logic behind light up dinosaurs at what is apparently North America’s largest night market. We have three recommendations for you. Get a spiral potato thing and some dim sum, then try to find cheap phone covers and finish by checking out all the crazy knives they sell here.
When: Friday to Sunday, May 10 to September 2, 7 PM – 12 AM
Where: Continental Centre, Richmond
And that’s our guide to the markets happening in Vancouver this summer! Now get out there and live your best local life, we know we’re going to be.
