Mix up Valentine’s Day in Vancouver with these 5 unique date ideas

Via Magis Center

While we were thinking about Valentine’s Day in Vancouver tomorrow, we stumbled across a Reddit thread about bad Valentine’s Day dates at restaurants. Scrolling through it, we seriously reconsidered our own plans for tomorrow. If you’re trying to avoid the weird hustle and bustle that is a restaurant on Valentine’s, don’t worry, we’ve got options for you.

Here are 5 different ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Vancouver.

Paint Pouring Night

If you need to let your creative juices flow, this class will help you do just that. Oh, and they serve you wine, so it’s really a perfect wind-down from the week. It’s a time to sit back and relax, because this technique of painting lets the paint do the work. You’ll get two small canvases to test out the techniques and one large canvas to create your masterpiece.

When: Friday, February 14, 7PM
Where: MakerLabs, 780 East Cordova Street
Cost: $75

WWE Friday Night Smackdown

This is the first time Friday Night Smackdown is happening in Vancouver, which means that if you decide to go it will technically be a historic Valentine’s Day date. We don’t know if that’s enough to sell you, but hey, worth a shot! Definitely the most high-energy option of the bunch, but worth including.

When: Friday, February 14, 4:45PM
Where: Rogers Arena, 800 Griffiths Way
Cost: $20 and up

Gravitational Attraction

Another interesting option is this adults-only night at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre. Programming includes a concert, a debate on the theories of Einstein versus Newtown, and a variety of demonstrations that have been specially created for the evening.

When: Friday, February 14, 7:30PM
Where: H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, 1100 Chestnut Street
Cost: $35

The People’s Prom

We don’t know anyone who looks back on their prom experience through rose-tinted glasses. If you feel like that’s something you need to experience, then this party is for you. Relive the excitement and fun of prom but with the confidence and maturity of an adult. Well, unless you ask your crush to this. Then it’ll be Prom 2.0.

When: Friday, February 14, 8PM
Where: The Imperial, 319 Main Street
Cost: $19.99

Sweet Soul Music Valentine’s Edition

You don’t need to have a Valentine to enjoy some soul music. The Fox Cabaret is having a Valentine’s Day Edition for it’s newest soul dance party. They’ll be spinning the city’s favourite soul hits. You can expect to hear artists like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, James Brown, The Marvelettes, The Temptations, Mary Wells, The Four Tops, The Miracles, and more!

When: Friday, February 14 @ 10:30 PM
Where: Fox Cabaret, 2321 Main Street
Cost: $13

See? You can totally celebrate Valentine’s Day without even stepping foot in a restaurant. Of course, we’ve got picks for that (and drinks) as well, but we cover all the bases here at Curiocity.
