Celebrate Black History Month starting this weekend with VIFF

We don’t know about you guys, but this weekend is feeling like the perfect weekend to see a movie. It also just so happens to be the beginning of many showings of movies for Black History Month at Vancity theatre!

To kick off this month of amazing movies, VIFF is opening with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which has been said to have reinvigorated the Spider-Verse. Instead of the classic Spider-Man, you have a much more interesting story with heroes in black who are black. It’s way more than your normal superhero movie and we promise you’ll enjoy it.

But if superhero films aren’t for you, that’s totally okay. Coming up next week you can watch films like Harriet, about Harriet Tubman or Boyz n the Hood, the classic directed by John Singleton. These are just a few of the films you can catch!

And that’s only the first two weeks. Trust us, there’s a lot more to come and you can’t go wrong with any of the films you choose to see. If you’d like to learn more about the films, showtimes, dates, and tickets, click here.
