Catch these 8 flicks at Canada Place’s Waterfront Cinema Series
About one month from today, you can enjoy some great movies under the stars at Canada Place’s ‘Waterfront Cinema’ series. Starting on July 11, the weekly screenings will show some classic movies and some new ones for fans young and old alike.
Much like the guide we did for the EVO Summer Cinema Series, we’re just going to provide our take on these films.
July 11 – Captain Marvel
The one film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we’ve yet to see. Well, that and game, no spoilers!!!
July 18 – Crazy Rich Asians
Nick Young is a very confusing name for a main character. We spent half the movie wondering when Swaggy P would show up, and we left the theatre disappointed.
July 25 – Elf
Before Jon Favreau really loved food, he really loved fantasizing about life in the North Pole. Never forget that fact.
August 1 – Shazam!
Imagine if Tom Hanks in Big! turned into a superhero instead of a powerful businessman. Wait, aren’t the two one and the same? A spooky thought.
August 8 – Beauty and the Beast
How one of our uncles refers to him and his wife. Don’t worry, he’s the beast, he’s not that mean. Love you, Steve.
August 15- How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
We actually watched the first film too much when it came out, and we were teenagers at the time. This is the final instalment in the trilogy, closing the door on a chapter that we equal parts enjoy and regret.
August 22 – Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
An underrated film created by a Vancouver studio. Soooo, support your local film industry and check it out for free.
August 29 – Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
If only this was Jones’ Last Crusade, instead of that absolute debacle of a fourth movie. Makes sense though, we can’t control ourselves around Crystal Skulls either.
And there you have it folks! Our take on the Waterfront Cinema films this summer. Find some friends an get down there for a laugh or two at Canada Place.
