Metro Vancouver is the home of a massive new Netflix production hub
We’ve got some great news for Hollywood North! Netflix is opening up a new production hub right here in Vancouver.
As any Vancouverite will tell you, one of the best parts of watching TV and movies is pointing out the many Vancouver landmarks in the background. And it looks like we’ll be seeing some classic Vancouver spots in the next few years on one of our favourite streaming sites.
8 Mile, the heartwarming tale of a nauseous young man who cures his sweaty palms through the power of mom’s spaghetti, is now streaming.

Netflix has taken out a long-term lease on the Canadian Motion Picture Park in Burnaby. The massive facility has 18 soundstages over 25 acres of land. For the record, Netflix has only leased 7 of those stages. But still, it’s nothing to shake a stick at. Especially with our city’s track record for film and TV production.
This might also mean we’ll be seeing some more stars hanging around town. For example, Sandra Bullock is reportedly in a new project from producer Graham King (The Departed, Argo). But, we’re sure that this is just the tip of a new content iceberg.
Not only will this mean seeing more Vancouver on our TV screens, but it will also support Canadian talent both behind and in front of the camera. Maybe it will spawn the next Ryan Reynolds or David Cronenberg?
