Girl power and great flicks are coming up at Van’s next film festival
Sorry, but you’ve gotta drop the Netflix next week. Vancouver has a film festival coming to town that’s all about showing up for women. So get your friends together and head over to VIFF to catch some showings at the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival!
This wonderful, unique film festival is a great touch for Hollywood North. A city this entrenched in film just couldn’t do without a few great festivals, and this March, all eyes are on the VIWFF.

This festival “celebrates contemporary cinema created by women”. In addition, it’s a way to showcase a range of storytellers from around the world. As a result, these storytellers “challenge both gender stereotypes on screen and the lack of inclusivity behind the camera”, according to the festival. So not only is it a showcase of beautiful work, but it’s also extremely empowering!
The festival spans six days and has a lot on the table besides film screenings. Some of the offerings include artist talks, VR experiences, discussions, workshops, receptions, and an awards ceremony. Pro tip, a lot of these are free.
