This interactive map shows when & where Vancouver’s cherry blossoms will bloom

Attention, cherry blossom enthusiasts! The most beautiful time of year is upon us, and the mix of spring weather conditions across Canada means that we could be in for some early blooms this year. In Metro Vancouver, residents may already be able to spot some budding pink blossoms in certain neighbourhoods, and the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival has an interactive map to track them all.

With over 3,000 locations of cherry blossom trees and around 50 different varieties, the online map is a great resource to consult if you’re hoping to map out a spring walk.

You can search by neighbourhood or cultivar, or change the blooming dates to see what’s in bloom in the coming weeks.

According to the map, the first Whitcomb blossoms will bloom in Richmond near Garden City Lands between Monday, March 4th to Monday, March 11th.

Moving to the following week (March 11th to 18th), several more of the Shosar, Accolade, and Pandora varieties will bloom, including a handful in Chinatown and Kitsilano.

By the third week (March 18th to 25th), much of Vancouver will be covered in the first round of pink and white blooms – from Shaughnessy to Burquitlam.

So there you have it, Vancouver! Stay tuned for more bloom info as it comes – and keep your eyes out for those early spring buds!
