DIY pop-up market: You can create your own shopping party with this Vancouver Fashion Truck

What has four wheels and racks and racks of boutique-worthy clothes? Megan Currie created the food truck equivalent to your favourite local clothing shop – and the Vancouver Fashion Truck pops up all over the Lower Mainland. Equal parts fashion and flexibility, the trendy mobile boutique operates on a “here today, gone tomorrow” basis.

In terms of where she got her start, Currie says on her website that she knew the landscape of retail was changing well before the pandemic.

“After visiting local festivals and fairs and seeing the potential of having a little shop that moved around, I decided to put my business on wheels so I could move around and “pop up” easily.”

Signature shopping parties

The truck typically pops up at markets or public events, but folks can also book their own private “shopping parties” through their website. The experience can pop up pretty much anywhere, so long as there is a flat space for the truck to park on & an electrical outlet.

The most popular package brings the truck right to your home. What can customers expect? 10+ of your friends can gather and do a bit of private shopping, one-on-one outfit pairing, and get style tips. Plus, 10% of the party’s sales go towards the host’s purchase – with a total minimum of $750 spent.

Parties are available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The goods

Now, for the clothes. The current collection focuses on everyday pieces that can be worn ‘day-to-night,’ including floral blouses, oversized cardigans, comfy denim, graphic tees, summery dresses, and much more. New arrivals come in every week, so you’re sure to find some great new pieces to spice up your wardrobe.

And if you aren’t able to snag some stuff you like – there’s an online store & a warehouse in Burnaby that you can peruse once Currie hits the road again. Customers can see where the truck is expected to pop up next using the ‘find the truck’ function.

That’s all for now, folks! Keep your eyes peeled for the Vancouver Fashion Truck & we’ll check back in with you soon.
