University of Toronto is ranked among the top 20 in the world

If you live in Toronto, you’ve seen those hard-working University of Toronto students walking around. Maybe you’re one of them, or were one of them once upon a time. The school was founded in the 1800s, and today, it has three campuses across the city (St. George, Scarborough, and Mississauga). Not only is it considered one of the best universities in the country, but it’s ranked among the top 20 in the entire world.

According to the U.S. News Global University Report, “Schools are ranked according to their performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence.”

For the 2025-2026 global rankings, U of T came in at 16th. Some of the other rankings the school racked up include:

• Third in Endocrinology and Metabolism
• Fourth in Surgery
• Fifth in Art and Humanities
• Fifth in Clinical Medicine
• Sixth Cardiac and Cardiovascular Systems
• Eighth in Oncology
• 10th in Space Science
• 14th in Neuroscience and Behaviour
• 19th in Biology and Biochemistry
• 21st in Molecular Biology and Genetics
• 23rd in Immunology
• 29th in Cell Biology
• 29th in Infectious Diseases
• 30th in Chemistry
