Union Station’s holiday skating rink with free skate rentals reopens next month

It’s almost that time, Toronto! The Union Station skating rink will open back up this November with its biggest ice surface yet, and that includes free skate rentals too!

Union Station confirmed to Curiocity that the popular downtown rink will be back up and running again this season, as part of the Union Winter activations and experiences.

The free public skating rink is located in front of the transit hub. You’ll get to glide along the ice with views of the city all around you and a live DJ supplying the tunes.

Ice skates and helmets are available for free at Union Holiday, and are provided on a first come, first-served basis. But, feel free to bring skates if you own a pair.

Plus, Union Winter is offering free skating lessons once a week for those looking to brush up on their technique or learn to skate for the first time.

“Whether you are an avid skater, someone enjoying the free skate rentals lacing up a pair for the first time, or just out for good, old fashioned family fun, we know that this rink will put a smile on your face,” the description says.

The rink also hosts a number of Union Beats Skate Nights, with DJs mixing live from rinkside to amplify your skating experience.

Starting in mid-November, skaters can register online in advance to secure a time slot. Or you are welcome to stop in while passing by to snag a walk-up spot.

After you’ve worked up an appetite, you can head to Union Station’s newly-reopened food hall for some delicious international cuisine.

You can also do a little holiday shopping at the new Sephora inside the transit hub.

Get ready to lace up those skates in the heart of the city, friends!
