This local shuttle service will take you to some of Washington’s best hikes for only $2.75

Before you know it, summer will be in full swing and that means it’s prime time to get out of the city and enjoy the amazing hikes our state has to offer. Now that being said, we know that not everyone has access to a vehicle. Which is why you should know about Trailhead Direct, a service that is working to expand access to hiking destinations along I-90.

Trailhead Direct not only expands access to hiking and to the outdoors, but it also helps to ease road congestion. Because it’s a shuttle service it reduces the number of cars on the roads and at trailheads. At the same time, it increases the number of people who are able to experience the amazing trails our state has to offer.

This year’s service runs to North Bend, bringing hikers to Mount Si, Mount Teneriffe, and Little Si. Fares are free for those 18 and under, fare for RRFP cardholders is $1, fare for ORCA LIFT is $1, fare for everyone else 19 and older is $2.75.

The service is seasonal, operating on weekends and designated holidays, which are Memorial Day (Monday, May 29th), Independence Day (Tuesday, July 4th), and Labor Day (Monday, July 4th). May 13th was the first day of service and the last shuttle will run on September 4th.

The shuttle starts at the bus stop at Broadway and East Denny Way across from Sound Transit’s Capitol Hill Link light rail Station and ends at the bus stop at East John Street and Broadway East, adjacent to Sound Transit’s Capitol Hill Link light rail station.

It’s worth noting that there are additional stops on First Hill, on Fourth Avenue in downtown Seattle near the University Street Link light rail station; the Eastgate Freeway Station in Bellevue; and the North Bend Park-and-Ride.
