Yorkville is known for boujee shops, fancy cars, and expensive restaurants. Soon, it’ll be home to the first brick-and-mortar cannabis shop in Toronto.

An application is in the works for 20 Cumberland Street, between Yonge and Bay. Talk about a fancy place to blaze!

There was a recent retail license lottery that divvied up 25 licenses to potential store owners. Additionally, more are expected to be created once supply and demand of cannabis are balanced.

The licenses are being spread out regionally, with five going to eastern Ontario, seven in the west, two in the north, six in the GTA and five in Toronto itself.

At the moment, recreational cannabis can only be purchased online. However, these stores are staking their claim in anticipation of the April 1st opening of the first private stores.
